Process

‘ You are here ‘ this brief looks at what home means to you so I became to brainstorm what I feel home means to me. I don’t believe where I am living or where I have lived feels like home, home for me is somewhere I feel comfortable, somewhere that I spend most of my time and somewhere that I want to spend my time. I’m considering the idea of using the woods as a setting for my shoot as the woods are the place where I have spent most of my childhood, wether it be building dens, tracking or in the last few years mountain biking, my local woods has always been a place I go to escape the constraints of the city or the pressure of school.

Nathan Hughes

Hughes is a mountain bike photographer that each year follows the world cup circuit as it travels from country to country and documents the riders life as they push the sport every race week-end. He documentation also includes the riders life behind the racing, which I find interesting and is something that want to apply to this brief.

Hudges creates create emotion with-in his images created by the lighting, this is something to consider when shooting in the woods although I have to take in account the trees hindering the light and the weather conditions on the day of the shoot. A solution to this will be to use external lighting to control the light with-in image although I don’t have access to this.

I want the photographs that I produce to be a real representation of the memories that I had in the woods as this will really present what the woods mean to me, so this will mean looking for objects or landscapes that remind me of my childhood or memories. My work will differ from Hudges as home for me is not the world cup racing circuit, its being alone or with my friends so my photo’s will include less subjects and will probably seem more lonely.
